I wanted to let you know how I'm getting on and thank everyone tremendously for all the best wishes, love, and prayers you sent after Phil's last newsletter. It means a lot to me and I feel has definitely helped me get through these last few months.
The good news is that I only have one chemo treatment left this coming week, so that phase will soon be over. Also the tumor has reduced a lot in size which I'm pleased about. The next step now is a mastectomy. Unfortunately because of the size of the tumor I had no choice about this, and I've even chosen to have a double mastectomy because of the cancer genetics in my family. So the op is set for Friday 13th September (hopefully this is a lucky day for me!!) It's a long 12 hour operations and I'll have to be in hospital for about 10 days afterwards but at least Phil will be here with me then. The final step will be radiotherapy, starting in October, another thing I have no choice about because the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes. At least I'll be all finished before the end of the year, in time to hopefully see a lot of you at the Tampa Supershow in January,
I've really missed seeing everyone at the shows this summer, but Phil said you gave him lots of good wishes and hugs for me - looking forward to him passing them on when I see him in a couple of weeks :)
Quite a few of you contacted me about your own battles with cancer, it was very uplifting to know that so many of you have won those fights. For those of you, like me, who are still battling a friend sent me a card with the following words "Even though cancer is a part of your life, it doesn't define you. You define yourself with your strength, your courage, your hope..." We can, and will beat this!
Sending lots of love and hugs. Please travel safe and have lots of fun on your journey. Looking forward to seeing you in the new year.
